1. Project Notes
I start by listing any project specific notes to be aware of prior to beginning, keeping these at the forefront of focus from square one.
2. Initial Chop
This includes full basic assembly of the video, ensuring the narrative is present and clear throughout + making any additional VFX/SFX specific notes prior to insertion.
3. VFX Run
Consists of a separate marker run followed by timeline application. During this phase all visual improvements are applied, including but not limited to colour correction, transitions, visual effects and animations, commercial inserts, motion graphics and more!
4. Music
Music is inserted post-VFX to ensure narrative flow, incorporating all video elements and transitional timing. This is where the product first truly joins together into a succinct piece of content.
5. SFX Run
After music comes sound effect application. Be it comical, tense, kids or cinematic, the range of applicable sound effects are added to reinforce the dynamic watching experience. This is also applied post-music to avoid any audio clashes that may appear harsh to a viewer and drive away retention.
6. Captioning
Once the video is nearly finished, captions go on top to keep the viewers eye engaged and make sure all narrative points are hit. These are made as dynamic as possible with transition animations and subtle movement to bring a higher quality feel to the overall video.
7. Final Run
A final run through of the video is done to clear any possible errors in the file and take any remaining notes that may have been missed prior. These changes are then applied.
8. Client Approval
The video is then sent to the client for initial approval (via either rendered full quality video and/or project file export with assets).
9. Revisions
After receiving the product, the client can take notes (preferable time stamped) and send these across. Revisions are typically applied within 12 hours of receiving them unless otherwise agreed.
10. Final Product 🎉
Once all revisions and any other outstanding issues are resolved, the final product is sent to the client ready for publishing.
